As June comes to a close it’s easy to worry that Summer is going by too quickly. Don’t worry, it’s just beginning! The Fourth of July AKA Independence Day AKA Hot Dogs & Fireworks Day is next week! If some of you are thinking, “Oh no! It’s a week from tomorrow and I don’t have anything planned”, we’ve got you covered. Take a look at all the awesome things happening in Downtown Corpus Christi on July 4th.
For the Early Risers…
Four for the Fourth
The Corpus Christi Roadrunners are hosting their annual 4-mile run starting at 7:00 am at the Solomon Ortiz Center. This run benefits the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders Cross-Country & Track Team and will have a prize for the most patriotic runner. So get out that red, white and blue and get your run on!
For the All Day-ers…
Mayor’s 4th of July Big Bang Celebration
This year the Mayor’s annual celebration is bigger and better than ever! The Family Fun & Music Zones will start at noon at Water’s Edge Park with a DJ to provide your day with some much-needed tunes. Later, experience a Reptile & Bird Show from the Botanical Gardens and more live entertainment from Chicas Rock, The Dream and more. At 6, mosey on over and check out the Mayor’s Big Bang Parade. All this ends in the grand finale of the Mayor’s Big Bang Celebration Fireworks from 9:30 to 10:00.
For the Night Owls…
Get Fired Up for Freedom – Corpus Christi Museum of Science & History
This amazing event is sure to go down in history! Starting at 5:30, it features some patriotic science shows, food & drink, and only costs $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
Corpus Christi Hooks vs. Midland Rockhounds – Whataburger Field
Honestly, what is more American than the Fourth of July & baseball? Hot dogs, baseball and fireworks, oh my! The game starts at 6:15, includes a fireworks show and ends just in time to see the fireworks on the bay.
July 4th Celebration – The Exchange
If you’re feeling more of a sit-down, relax and still be patriotic vibe, head to the Exchange next Thursday for all of your needs. With dinner, drinks, a silent auction, live music and a comedy show, what else could you possibly want. The celebration lasts from 7:00 to 11:00 pm.
4th of July Celebration – Texas State Aquarium
This fireworks viewing celebration has dinner, drinks, family fun, and a fin-tastic view! Starting at 7:00 pm, those in attendance will be able to view the majority of the Caribbean Journey and Gulf of Mexico Exhibits. Tickets are $30 for members and $40 for non-members.
Red, White & Boom Fireworks Viewing Party at USS Lexington
From 7:00 to 11:00 pm, you can hang out at the Lexington and get your Fourth of July on! Feel free to bring your own bag or chair, although chairs will be available at the party, but no outside food or drink. Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
21+ VIP Viewing Party – Holiday Inn Downtown Marina
Happy 4th of July from the Holiday Inn in Downtown Corpus Christi! For just $20, you can have some specialty hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and one of the best views of the fireworks in downtown. The event lasts from 7:00 to midnight, so it’s perfect for all you night owls.
Independence Day w/ The Oddfellas – Executive Surf Club
We kinda want to be at Surf Club every day so why wouldn’t we want to be there on Independence Day? This family-friendly event consists of killer live music, incredible food and drinks, and one of downtown’s staples.
4th of July Bash ft. Diamond’s Edge
Brewster St. is hosting one of the best bashes next Thursday. Starting at 8:30, doors will be open for all the best food, drink, family fun and live music the venue has to offer. And it lasts until after midnight!
Summer in Corpus Christi really isn’t complete without the Harbor Bridge Light Show and the Mayor’s Big Bang Celebration Fireworks, at 9:00 and 9:30 respectively, so make sure you get the most out of your summer in downtown and see it all!
