Downtown comes alive. On the first Friday of every month, you’ll find artists, musicians, and all things creative converge on the Marina Arts District. Shop for local arts and crafts, see art exhibits in galleries and pop-ups and then have a drink or dine in one of our mouth-watering restaurants. Enjoy the talents of your neighbors or showcase your own as you revel in the sights and sounds of Corpus Christi’s creative community.

Wake up and lace up because on the Sunday following the First Friday ArtWalk every month locals and visitors have created somewhat of a morning ritual. Good for the body and good for the soul, There is a definite sense of achievement after you trek across Corpus Christi’s famed Harbor Bridge. Take in panoramic views of Corpus Christi Bay, Downtown, USS Lexington and Texas State Aquarium. Feel the salt air against your face and you’ll be hooked. Enjoy Downtown restaurants, some of Corpus Christi’s best, as they offer unique, three course value-priced menus for one week every year. Once you have dined perhaps you will want to shop! Take your Dine Downtown Restaurant receipt to participating retail shops and galleries to receive a discount! Don’t go home yet! Now that you have dined and maybe shopped why rush home? Take it easy! Take advantage of special hotel overnight packages and discounts.
In the 1960’s, Chaparral Street became Peppermint Lane, where our community shopped and celebrated the holiday season. In 2019, Peppermint Lane presented by the Downtown Management District will come alive again with a fresh take including candy canes and tree lights. Always the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the Holiday Celebration includes a kid’s carnival, crafts, choir concerts and entertainment and market vendors and food trucks.
Downtown Management District has hosted a Decorate Downtown event for two decades! Volunteers string lights in the trees that line our Downtown Streets. In 2019, Deck Downtown presented by Carolyn Vaughn will take place on Sunday, November 10th. To register to volunteer, please use the link below.
Mayor’s Battle of the Bulbs
No holiday season is complete without a little competition! Mayor’s Battle of the Bulbs, presented by Valero Bill Greehey Refineries, will bring back the days when downtown was your holiday shopping destination and businesses competed for your attention with their holiday decorations. Businesses will compete for bragging rights in categories including Best Use of Lights, Best Window, Best Big Building, Holiday Champion – Best Overall and People’s Choice.
Handpick an original at our weekly Farmers’ Market. Every Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Art Center, find fresh veggies, produce, and locally raised beef and chicken, as well as handmade soaps and other essentials. Grown or made by local and regional farmers and artisans. This is art in its most natural form. Come enjoy live folk music and coffee as you peruse the plentiful selection of goods from you neighbors.
Wednesday Night Regatta
Our Wednesday evening sailing regattas happen 52 weeks out of the year. The longest running weekly sailing regatta in the United States, you’ll find everything from novices to nautical know-it-alls. The sails are a great compliment to the already spectacular sunsets served up daily at the marina. Join a group or just watch them launch their crafts from the bleachers at the Lawrence Street T-Head park.
