Guild Hall: Adventures in the Arts Selections from the Permanent Collection of the Guild Hall Museum, East Hampton, NY @ Art Museum of South Texas
Jan 27 @ 10:00 am – Apr 30 @ 5:00 pm

This exhibition, from the Guild Hall Museum, East Hampton, New York, includes 73 works of art by 40 artists, honoring them from the past 120 years as they have made East Hampton a thriving center for creative expression and artistic experimentation. Works included in this exhibit are by impressionists, surrealists, abstract expressionists, pop artists, photo realists, 80’s and 90’s neo-expressionists, and contemporary artists. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, and mixed media works trace the progression of art movements in America from Impressionism to experiments by contemporary artists in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

BAM! It’s a Picture Book: The Art Behind Graphic Novels @ Art Museum of South Texas
Apr 21 @ 10:00 am – Jun 25 @ 5:00 pm

This art exhibition features today’s leading and best graphic artists of the illustration world. Graphic novels have gained immense popularity in recent years to a diverse, expanded audience. According to the American Library Association, they are among the fastest growing categories in publishing and bookselling. The cave paintings of ages past and hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt were the first examples of storytelling through pictures. Over the years the graphic novel has emerged as a financially successful medium combining storytelling and fine art and evolved into the popular DC Comic heroes we recognize today: Superman, Batman, and Marvel Comic’s Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and X-Men.

About the Artist:

I could live anywhere in the world, but I’ve chosen to settle in the Coastal Bend of Texas. It’s about as good a “target rich environment” as any nature photographer could ever ask for.

My challenge is to capture the unspoiled beauty of the Coastal Bend and share it through my photography. My subject interests range from sunrises over Aransas Bay to the many species of birds found here. And then there’s all that other good stuff…

I live in Rockport, Texas with my wife Sharon. We’ve settled here for the long haul This is an easy place to live, work, and enjoy the good life here on the Gulf Coast.
